Multi-Tools & Pliers

A multitool is pliers with a committee attached. Ours come in four sizes, and the honest way to choose is to work out how often you'll carry it — because the best multitool is the one in your pocket, not the impressive one in a drawer.

The Trailhand Mini rides on a keyring at five tools. The Switchback EDC is nine tools with a pocket clip, light enough that you forget it's there. The Ridge 17 is full-size, which means it works with gloves on and doesn't dig into your palm under load. The Summit Pro is 21 tools with replaceable wire cutters, for people who'd rather not think about which tool to bring.
